Few months after its controversial conversion to Technical University status, Tamale Technical University previously Tamale Polytechnic for the first time is organizing an International Research Conference in Tamale.
The conference is expected to draw presenters from industry and higher Academic Institutions within and outside the country. Papers to be presented ranges from Social Sciences to Engineering.
In an exclusive interview with tudunews.com, the Director of Research and Innovation of the University, Mr. Alhassan Sulemana said, the conference would serve as an opportunity for people to understand the role of Technical Education in nation building. He hinted that, about ten (10) International attendees from six countries have confirmed their participation. He noted that prominent among them would be Mr. Barry Masoga the Executive Director, Education-Industry Exchange from South Africa.
Other participating Institutions includes; National Accreditation Board, COTVET, Ministry of Education, GIMPA, Kumasi Technical University, University for Professional Studies (UPS), representatives from Sister Technical Universities, some staff of TaTU, and the University for Development Studies.
He said, the theme for the Conference is “Sustainable National Development through Research and Innovations, the Role of Technical Education”.
Our information revealed that, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdulai Salifu Asuru and the Registrar Alhaji Yakubu Iddrisu have both been instrumental in committing resources and time in organizing this important academic exercise.
The four days Conference is scheduled to take place at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale from 11th to 14th February, 2018.
The Minister of Education and the Northern Regional Minister are expected to open the Conference.
